Crisis Management

So I play this game called Starcraft 2 and I watch this guy who casts it called Day9.  In one of Day9's analysis' he talks about crisis management.  When something happens and you don't expect it, what is your reaction.  Some people make huge mistakes because thinking under pressure is not easy.  Your decisions have to be faster, but just as accurate.  Once you make the mistake, it only piles on and eventually you lose the game.  My crisis management in the game is terrible, once someone does something unexpected I'm pretty much fucked.  Good thing there's always another game waiting.

Now let's relate this to life.  In my opinion, for a lot of people, life is a crisis.  Let's just go with the basics like, school, work, and finding someone to be with.  These are 3 fairly larges aspects of life.  When I was younger, most people were finishing college in 4 years and they still do, but I feel like these days people are taking a little longer.  Lets say you finish school around 21 years of age.  You had a girlfriend in college and she's still with you, and you find a job right out of college.  You spend a few years establishing yourself and your married around 24-25.  This is a very good scenario and well this might be the case for some people, I feel it's generally unrealistic.

Let's say you finish school around 22 years of age, and you had financial aide.  You don't get a job for a year or maybe 2 and I know this is ridiculous, but it is the case for some people, the economy does suck.  Now you're 24, single and well now that you're working, you still have to pay off loans.  Maybe it'll take you 3-5 years to establish yourself now.  Remember during this time, you have to do this thing called life....  You know, pay bills, find a significant other, do hobbies, sleep.  What happens when life throws you a curve ball and you get fired/laid off, the person you were dating for 2-3 years suddenly decides that you are not the one, you have health issues.  Any one of these is pretty awful, how do you react, what if they all happen to you.  It's not really that hard to imagine, probably happens all the fucking time.  Before you know it, you're 30, single, working, unestablished and fucked.  For those of you who have it all figured out, good for you, but for the rest of us....  Life is a crisis, you just don't know it yet.  If Starcraft or work are any indication of how my real crisis management is, then I'm fucked.  Good luck with life, make correct decisions and you'll be fine....
